Our new program allows you to easily create tapered section sizes and assign them to multiple beams by simply entering the start and end depth of the built-up I section.
Tapered I sections are commonly used in the design of pre-engineered steel buildings, especially when a single member must be split into multiple parts due to modeling requirements. These requirements might include adding strut tubes, point loads, or other members. After breaking one member into multiple segments, assigning the correct tapered section properties becomes necessary. This involves calculating the depth ratio between the start and end points of the section, which can be a complex and time-consuming process.
To simplify this, we’ve developed a program that automatically calculates the difference in tapered sections based on the beam length. The software then applies the appropriate section properties to the selected members in STAAD.
